If you have read my entry I miss the Filipino food! last February, I mentioned that one of my Filipino friends, Emerson bought me some goods from a Filipino store in Halifax which is a two-hour drive from where I live. I don’t have a car and I don’t know how to drive either so I need to wait for my friends to go there and buy some Filipino goods for me. That’s not a problem anymore because there’s a newly-opened Filipino store in Pictou County! Finally!
I went to the store with my husband and guess what the first thing I bought? Noodles. Yes. I bought the Lucky Me sweet and chili pancit canton. My mother-in-law was puzzled, and I just laughed. I think only a Filipino will understand that. I also bought cheese ring, which my husband said tastes better than the cheezies here. They have everything there, frozen goods like tilapia and bangus, ice cream, condiments, seasoning, bread, pastries, snacks, and of course, sacks of rice.
The owner is very nice and warm. Here’s my friend Lorna with the owner of the store.
My husband and I looked for the ingredients that we need for Halo-Halo and they were all available there. All we need now is an ice shaver. I know you are probably thinking of us catching snow instead. Believe me, I thought of it too, haha. My friend Lorna invited me to her house last week and she cooked Bilo-bilo (also known as bola-bola) and she bought all the ingredients from this store, dang! It was really good.
